My son trusts me.
This morning when we went to day care, he and I were standing at the top of the stairs about to head down to the play room below. I was holding Ian's hand and saying good morning to his primary care giver.
Ian started leaning toward the stairs. I would guess he was at about a 45 degree angle from upright; the only thing keeping him from falling straight down the stairs was my hold on his hand.
My heart was beating a mile a minute and I was scared, but Ian was steadfast and brave. He knew I would not let go.
I would never let go.
He knew he could check out his world from a different angle and I would use every once of life in me to make sure he was safe while he was doing so.
The trust a child has in their parents is pretty amazing.
I am in awe and very humbled by Ian's trust in me.
There is not a day that will by that I will not use every fiber of my being to live up to the trust he puts in me.
