4 Simple Goals

I have been seeing 4 Simple Goals pop up here and there across the great interwebs recently...first there was Liz and then Jamie. The concept, began by Elsie of A Beautiful Mess, is that you come up with four simple, nonspecific goals that you can and will accomplish before 2011. I can get down with that...and Elsie I love your blog, this idea, and I am subscribed to enjoy your posts from now on. (Wow that sounds really stalker-ish.)

Anyway!

So I thought, being the type of person I am, a new reason to make a list was definitely for me. I have thought long and hard about my four goals written out some goals without thinking much about them and I yet feel confident that I can accomplish these four things before the calendar rolls over to 2011.

So here are my 4 Simple Things; read them and then join in on the fun.

1. Become more active. Getting my body healthy needs to be a bigger priority in my life and I just have to kick start my plan by simply becoming more active then I am currently. A walk with my son. Some time playing Wii Fit or making a lame attempt at learning yoga on my own. (Seriously if someone filmed me I would be the next Star Wars kid of You Tube. It is really pathetic, but I try.) I think I will start with adding two days a week activities and move up from there. Be sure to bug me to make sure I am not being a slacker about this one, I might need the help.

2. Make the time to read. When someone asks me what I enjoy to do in my free time, reading is usually the first thing I list off. Yet, I don't really make time to read as much as I could. My goal is to make time to read at least two days a week. Even if I only get through a chapter a week, my mind and my heart will be better for it. Besides I just might have about a dozen unread books in my possession that need to get a little lovin' of the page turning variety.

3. Take more photos of the little things that happen everyday. When I first became a mom I took pictures of every little thing and I think I sort of got burned out on having my camera attached to my hip every moment I am at home. Now I get the camera out a couple times a week and snap pictures because I know someone will be looking for a blog or Flickr update on Sunday night (or Monday morning when I am a slacker). My goal is to change the way I approach taking photos and capturing memories of my son growing up by taking a few moments with my camera everyday.

4. Spend more quality time with the people I love. Plain and simple, I need to make more time to visit family and friends and to take a date night with my husband now and then. This special time doesn't happen enough and that needs to change because life isn't long enough to miss out of opportunities to be with the people you care about. Once a month I will plan something to reconnect with a person I love and miss spending time with.
So there you have it, my 4 Simple Goals.
